"More than 600.000 families in Argentina do not have reliable access to electricity.

We are here to change that by promoting a fair energy transition, with and from the territories."
We work for sustainable democracy, where climate action and citizen participation combine to guarantee rights.

“Desenganche” is a local climate action initiative in the Saldías neighborhood (CABA) that combined the installation of solar panels with environmental education, community participation, and applied research. At Latam Lab, we analyzed this initiative as an example of good practice in local climate action.
We believe that the fairness of the energy transition depends on renewable energies benefiting first those who have historically been marginalized. If these solutions are implemented with technical rigor and combined with community participation processes, environmental education, and systematic evaluation, we can reduce energy poverty, strengthen climate resilience, and build replicable models that accelerate the transition throughout Latin America.

Systematize the experience from a Latin American and situated perspective.
Evaluate the project using indicators developed by CEPAL and adapted for civil society.
It presents strengths, challenges, and specific recommendations for its sustainability and scalability.
Paves the way for new bottom-up energy transition experiences.

Why does it matter?

Desenganche shows that a just energy transition is not an abstract concept. It can be implemented on the ground if action, training, and analysis are coordinated. This case:

• Responds to national and international climate commitments.

• Reduce energy poverty with renewable and community-based solutions.

• Generates lessons learned for public policy and future interventions.

This report is available for free non-commercial distribution and can serve as a practical guide for new initiatives.

Furthermore, if you are promoting an energy transition experience and want to accompany it with rigorous evidence, Latam Lab can help you:

Take care of the implementation, and leave the research, systematization, and consulting to our technical team.
